In this article, the concept of "forgiveness", which is one of the important concepts of memory studies, is discussed and the forgiveness experiences of Eva Mozes Kor and Hilmi Köksal Alişanoğlu, who were victimized in two different periods and in two different countries, are tried to be understood and explained. After the declaration that the crimes committed by the Nazis during the Second World War, especially the Holocaust, would be time-barred as of May 8, 1965, in accordance with the current law, issues such as "evil", "timeout", "crimes against humanity", as well as "forgiveness" were discussed. In the light of the views of philosophers who have spoken about "forgiveness" since this date, the experience of forgiveness of genocide victim Eva Mozes Kor and the readiness of Hilmi Köksal Alişanoğlu, who was a victim of the September 12 military coup, to forget under one condition, were examined. Bu makalede bellek çalışmalarının önemli kavramlarından biri olan “bağışlama” kavramı ele alınmış ve geçmişin iki ayrı döneminde ve iki ayrı ülkede mağdur edilmiş Eva Mozes Kor ile Hilmi Köksal Alişanoğlu’nun bağışlama deneyimleri anlaşılıp açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Nazilerin Yahudi soykırımı başta olmak üzere İkinci Dünya Savaşı süresince işlediği suçların mevcut yasa gereğince 8 Mayıs 1965’ten itibaren zamanaşımına uğrayacağının açıklanmasının ardından “kötülük”, “zamanaşımı”, “insanlığa karşı işlenen suçlar” gibi konuların yanı sıra “bağışlama” konusu da tartışmaya açılmıştır. Bu tarihten itibaren günümüze kadar “bağışlama” üzerine söz söylemiş filozofların görüşlerinin ışığında soykırım mağduru Eva Mozes Kor’un bağışlama deneyimi ve 12 Eylül askeri darbesi mağduru Hilmi Köksal Alişanoğlu’nun tek bir şartla unutmaya hazır oluşu incelenmiştir. Mağduriyete içkin olan acının bir duygu oluşu gibi bağışlamanın da öncelikle bir duygu olduğu ve ancak hatırlama politikasının hâkim olması koşulu ile olanaklı olabileceği görüşü savunulmuştur.
