Abstract
One of the compulsory lesson to be taught in middle schools is Turkish lesson and this lesson is one of the courses with the most weekly course hours. In this respect, the contents of the books that are obligatory to be taught in this lesson, which is highly valued by the Ministry of National Education (MEB), are also important. In this study, it is aimed to examine the metaphors of mother, father and child in Turkish textbooks taught at middle school level and the meanings these metaphors represent. In line with the determined purpose, the survey model, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in this research. In this context, document analysis and accordingly content analysis technique were used on Turkish textbooks at middle school level. On the analyzed data, the frequency scores of metaphors at each grade level were calculated and evaluated. As a result, while the metaphors of mother, father and child were emphasized in the 6th and 7th grade books, the father metaphor was not used in the 5th and 8th grade textbooks. When examined in terms of all grade levels, the metaphor of mother was used 17 times, the metaphor of father was used 2 times, and the metaphor of child was used 28 times. In terms of the meanings corresponding to the metaphors, the concept of nature has been used intensively compared to other meanings.

Ortaokullarda okutulması zorunlu olan Türkçe dersi, ders saati en fazla olan derslerden birisidir. Bu açıdan Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı (MEB) tarafından oldukça önemsenen bu derste okutulan kitapların içerikleri de önem arz etmektedir. Bu araştırmada ortaokul düzeyinde okutulan Türkçe ders kitaplarındaki anne, baba ve çocuk metaforları ve bu metaforların karşıladıkları anlamlar açısından irdelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Belirlenen amaç doğrultusunda araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modeli esas alınmıştır. Araştırmanın veri kaynağını oluşturan ortaokul düzeyinde Türkçe ders kitapları üzerinde doküman analizi ve buna bağlı olarak içerik çözümlenmesi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, her sınıf düzeyinde metaforlara ilişkin sıklık puanları hesaplanarak değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak anne, baba ve çocuk metaforları, 6 ve 7. sınıf düzeyindeki Türkçe ders kitaplarında vurgulanırken 5 ve 8. sınıf düzeyindeki ders kitaplarında baba metaforu kullanılmamıştır. Tüm düzeyler açısından incelendiğinde ise anne metaforu 17 defa, baba metaforu 2 defa, çocuk metaforu ise 28 defa kullanılmıştır. Metaforlara karşılık gelen anlamlar açısından ise doğa kavramı diğer anlamlara nazaran yoğunlukla kullanılmıştır.
