Abstract

During a production period, growth and feeding parameters of meagre (Argyrosomus regius Asso 1801) was investigated. Meagre has been produced in marine cages and recently, shows increasing production volume in Europe and Turkey. The study was carried out with 13.2 ± 1.4 g starting mean weight 15400 juveniles in an earthen ponds belong to ASC Su Ürünleri Ltd. in Savran region of Milas town of Muğla Province and were used. Feeding trial had done between 15th of March and 15 of October, 2012. At the end of study, mean weight of fish were found 301.03 ± 27.02 g, specific growth rate was found 1.19, feed conservation ratio was found 1.12 and thermal growth coefficient was found 2.21 at 21.7°C water temperature. The results of this study showed that meagre has a good specific growth rate and thermal growth coefficient that it can be produce in earthen ponds between spring and summer seasons in a short production period such a 6-7 months.
