Abstract

Interest is one of the important tools used by monetary authorities to stabilize money markets. The causal effect of interest on the exchange rate can determine the efficiency of economic policies. Therefore, it is important to investigate the interest-exchange rate relationship. In this study, the dynamic relationship between the interest rate and exchange rate of Turkey's economy period June 2000 - September 2020 are examined. For this aim, ADF unit root test, Granger causality test and ARDL boundary test are used. As a result of the findings, it was determined that there is causality from interest rate to exchange rate, but in the opposite case, causality is not valid. According to the ARDL boundary test results, there is a long-term cointegration relationship between variables.
