Abstract

Pregnancy is a stressful transition for women as well as a normal physiological life cycle. In this process, any situation that makes pregnancy risky results with increased stress and anxiety. It is important to use effective methods of coping with stress, especially for risky pregnancies during pregnancy, as the body's physiological response to stress complicates control of risky pregnancies. One of these methods is music therapy. Music therapy is both cheap and easily accessible method. Studies in high-risk pregnancies with certain bed rest indicate that stress and lethargy are decreased for an expectant mother. Vital symptoms are more stable, fetal heart rate is normal and fetal health is improved with musical therapy. In this review, the effect of music therapy on coping with stress in high risk pregnancies is investigated.
