Abstract

The question of the presence and direction of causality between economic growth and financial development has been discussed for a long time. There is a great literature on this issue. The aim of this study is to empirically investigate the direction of the causality between economic growth and financial development for Turkey by using Toda-Yamamoto test over annual data from 1988 to 2012. It is concluded that causality runs from financial development to economic growth in Turkey.
