Abstract

This work deals with correlation between external borrowing and economic growth for the period of 1990:Q1-2012:Q12. Time series are utilized in the present work and to stabilize series primarily Phillips Perron-Unit Root (1998), in order to determine whether variables act in concert Gregory-Hansen-Cointegration (1996), and to establish causation between variables Hacker and Hatemi-Causation Tests (2006), are used. According to the results of the analysis, there is a cointegration between external borrowing and economic growth. However, one-way causation towards external borrowing from economic growth has been established. Accordingly, 1% increase in economic growth pushes external borrowing up by 0,0013%

Özet

Bu çalışmada Türkiye'de dış borçlanma ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi 1990:Q12013:Q12 dönemi için ele alınmıştır. Zaman Serisi Yönteminin kullanıldığı çalışmada, serileri durağan hale getirmek amacıyla öncelikle Zivot-Andrews Birim Kök (1992), değişkenlerin birlikte hareket edip etmediklerini tespit etmek amacıyla Gregory-Hansen Eşbütünleşme (1996) ve değişkenler arasında nedenselliğin varlığını belirleyebilmek amacıyla da Hacker ve Hatemi-J Nedensellik Testleri (2006) uygulanmıştır. Yapılan analiz sonuçlarına göre dış borçlanma ile ekonomik büyüme arasında eşbütünleşme ilişkisi tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte ekonomik büyümeden dış borca doğru tek yönlü bir nedensellik tespit edilmiştir. Buna göre ekonomik büyümedeki %1'lik bir artış dış borcu %0,0013 arttırmaktadır
