Abstract

Economic development is important for countries in terms of social, cultural and economic sense. Countries are often faced with various difficulties while realizing economic development. The issue of financing economic development comes at the beginning of these problems. In this respect, as a means of fiscal policy, taxes can be an important source of financing for economic development. In this study, using co-integration and casuality test the impact of indirect and direct taxes and foreign direct capital investments on per capita income was investigated in 11 European Union countries (transition economies) and Turkey for the period 2003- 2015. As a result of this study, it was determined that direct taxes and direct foreign capital investments have a positive effect while indirect taxes have a negative effect on economic development.
