Abstract

Introduction and Aim: The sociodemographic characteristics of the pregnant women who participated in the study were as follows; This study was planned to evaluate the effects on perinatal period, mode of delivery and lactation period. Material Method: Sociodemographic characteristics, pregnancy and delivery, and lactation periods of pregnant women who were followed up in the pregnant school for 1 year were examined. The data are analyzed in SPSS statistics program. The relationship between the variables was interpreted by chi-square analysis. Results: The rate of pregnant women followed in the pregnant school was 17%. 64.3% (n = 238) were found to be between 25-35 years of age. 39.7% (n = 147) were high school graduates. It was found that 85.4% (n = 316) did not work and 62.7% (n = 232) of the pregnant women who were followed up had normal births. The rate of breastfeeding for 6 months or longer was 60.7% (n = 134). Breastfeeding time was found to be shorter as learning time increased (p = 0.000). The duration of breastfeeding was longer in pregnant women (p = 0.000). Discussion and Conclusion:When the literature was searched, no publication investigating the continuation of pregnant women, the contributions of the pregnant school to the pregnant schools in our country and what the pregnant women think about the subject was not found. Physicians and pregnant women; Pregnancy school should know and care that it may affect pregnancy period, delivery type, neonatal period, breastfeeding period and should be supported with publications.
