Abstract

This study investigates the stomach content of Esox lucius living in Mogan Lake. 108 (68.35%) of 158 Esox lucius individuals hunted between February 1997 and January 1998 had filled stomachs. The stomach content was evaluated according to the months, seasons and the ages of the fish as regards to weight, number and frequency. The occurrence rates of the different contents were found as follows: fish remains (32.4%), Alburnus orontis (23.0%), Gammarus (10.8%), Tinca tinca (9.9%), Odonata (8.9%), Ligula (4.2%), residues of various organisms (2.8%), Cyprinus carpio (1.4%) and Gastropoda (0.9%).
