Religious References in ‘Forty Hours with Hızır’ This study aims to detect and analyse the religious references in the poem book called „Forty Hours With Hızır‟. The poem book named „Forty Hours With Hızır‟ consists of poems in which religious references and highlights are intensely used. Sezai Karakoç has hardly ever made use of the themes of that period although he is counted among the members of İkinci Yeni poem movement. While composing his poems, Karakoç has consciously welcomed the themes that are forgotten and not preferred by his contemporaries. These are themes in which religious figures and some miraculous events belonging to Islamic traditionhave been told. Bu çalışma, Sezai Karakoç‟un Hızırla Kırk Saat isimli şiir kitabındaki dinî referansları tespit ve tahlil etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Hızırla Kırk Saat, dinî referans ve vurguların yoğun olarak işlendiği şiirlerden oluşmaktadır. Sezai Karakoç, İkinci Yeni akımına mensup şairlerden sayılmasına rağmen, şiirlerinde o dönem işlenen temalara çok az değinmiştir. Karakoç, şiirlerini oluştururken çağdaşları tarafından unutulmuş veya tercih edilmeyen temaları, bilinçli olarak şiirine misafir etmiştir.
