Abstract

In this study, the importance and effects of visual elements such as tables, graphs, and diagrams, which are used in different stages from the preparation of the research to its writing, are discussed. In particular, due to the development of technological possibilities and the intensification of studies using big data or quantitative methods, visual elements have started to take place more and more in Social Sciences research. However, especially in the field of Social Sciences, there is a gap in terms of guiding studies on why such visual elements are important and how they should be used. By focusing on the frequently used types of tables, graphics, and diagrams and their purpose of usage, this study aims to evaluate the importance of these visual elements to research. In this context, the current discussions in the literature have been evaluated through examples of various visual elements. Accordingly, it argues that visual elements such as tables, graphics, and diagrams are the essential components of research articles in terms of conveying and interpreting knowledge.
