Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between classroom teachers' attitudes towards music teaching and their self-efficacy regarding music education. A total of 385 classroom teachers working in eighteen (18) primary schools in Aydın province affiliated with the Ministry of National Education participated in the study. The data were collected with the "Pre-school teacher candidates' attitude scale towards music teaching" developed by Şeker and Saygı (2013) and the "Music education self-efficacy scale" developed by Afacan (2008). When the findings of the study were examined, it was determined that the total scores of the classroom teachers' attitudes toward music teaching and self-efficacy toward music education were at a moderate level. While no significant difference was found according to whether the classroom teachers received in-service training or not, there was a significant difference in favor of those who played an instrument. In the study, linear regression analysis was conducted on the level of self-efficacy of classroom teachers regarding music education explaining their attitudes towards music education, and as a result of the analysis, it was seen that the self-efficacy of classroom teachers about music education explained their attitudes towards music education at the level of 35%.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı sınıf öğretmenlerinin müzik öğretimine ilişkin tutumları ile müzik eğitimine ilişkin öz-yeterlikleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Araştırmaya Aydın İlinde Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı’na bağlı on sekiz (18) İlköğretim okulunda görev yapmakta olan toplam 385 sınıf öğretmeni katılmıştır.
