Abstract

Malnutrition Prevalence and Nutritional Status of Children Aged 0-5 in the Province of IspartaThe pupose of this study was to determine the malnutrition status of children under five years of age in the province of Isparta. Methods: This study was conducted on a total of 670 children, selected by simple random sampling method within the framework of total field under survey classified in categories regarding their socioeconomic levels, according to the sample size determined in INSTAT program. The height and the weight figures of each child were noted and Z values were calculated with reference to NCHS-CDC standards. Children whose Z scores of “height for age”, "weight for height" and "weight for age" are lower than - 2 standard deviation were assessed as stunted, wasted and under-weighted, respectively. Result: In this study, 4.9% of the study group was stunted, 15.2% of them was wasted and 11.8% of was under-weighted. It was determined that stunting were related with vitamin D using of child and wasting was related with low economic status of child in logistic regression analysis. Conclusion: In the result of this study, it was determined that the prevalence of stunted was lower than in the literature but the prevalence of under-weighted was higher than in literature reported.

Bulgular: Araştırma grubunun %4.9’u kısa boylu, %15.2’si zayıf/ kavruk ve %11.8’i düşük kilolu idi. Lojistik regresyon analizinde, düzenli D vitamini kullanımının kısa boylu olma ile ters yönde, düşük ekonomik düzeyin zayıf/kavruk olma ile aynı yönde ilişkili olduğu belirlendi. Sonuç: Bu araştırmanın sonucunda, araştırma grubundaki çocukların boy kısalığı sıklığının, literatürde bildirilen sıklıklardan düşük, zayıf/kavrukluk sıklığı literatürde bildirilen sıklıklardan daha yüksek olduğu belirlendi
