Abstract

In this study, population dynamics and natural enemies of Spodoptera exigua (Hübner) (Noctuidae: Lepidoptera) were investigated in potato field in the Van province in 1998-1999. The study was carried out by using netting and point sample methods in 3 fields in Erciş and in 2 fields in Muradiye. S. exigua had a destructive outbreak in 1998, it reached the highest population level at the end of the June in Erciş and in the beginning of the July in Muradiye. Population of the pest was considerably low in 1999 in the both of the counties. At the result of the study, 12 beneficial insect species belonging to Hemiptera. Coleoptera, Neuroptera and Hymenoptera were obtained as natural enemies of 5. exigua.
