Abstract

Renal cell carcinoma is the most frequently encountered malignancy of the kidney, and breast cancer is the the most frequent one in women. Synchronous occurrence of these two malignancies has rarely been reported. In this case, we presented a case of synchronous breast cancer and renal cell carcinoma. In patient with malignancy, it should be kept in mind that masses which are present or newly determined can be synchronic or metachronic malignancies besides metastasis. Newly emerged symptoms during follow-up in patients with cancer should be taken into consideration, and be kept in mind that secondary tumors can be determined in one of every 20 patients in whom malignant tumuor was determined.

Face to face interview was conducted to all patients. Patients’ demographic data, their intentions and perceived effectiveness of using AM were evaluated. Fisher exact test were used to compare groups. More than half (%63) of 102 patients had used AM. The most frequently used treatment was herbal medicine. Patients who were low education or low socioeconomic level were found to use more frequent than other patients (p_____0.001).
