Bu yazıda, yeraltı maden işletmesinden doğan zemin hareketleri ve bu hareketlerin yapılar üzerindeki etkileri kısaca açıklandıktan sonra, Zonguldak kömür üretim bölgeleri üzerinde yer alan 30 yapı üzerinde söz konusu zemin hareketlerinin zararlı etkileri incelenmekte ve genel bir durum değerlendirmesi yapılmaktadır. Daha sonra, zemin hareketlerine dayanıklı ya da bu hareketleri sönümleyecek önlemlerle donatılmış yapı sistemleri anlatılmakta ve benzer sorunları olan ülkelerin çözüme yaklaşım biçimleri hakkında genel bilgi verilmektedir
