Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was to translate Ferrans & Powers's Quality of life index (QLI, Dialysis Version III) into turkish and to work on its reliability and validity.Method: The sample of the study consisted of 31 university students and 31 dialysis patients. There were 15 women and 16 men in the dialysis group , with a mean age of 45.7. Mean dialysis duration was 5,1 years. The infected patients were not included in the study. The mean age of the students was 22.7 (26 women, 5 men). For validity study of the scale, the patients additionally were given SF-36 Quality of Life Index and Beck Depression Inventory (BDE).Results: As in the original reliability study of the scale test-retest study has been done both with university students, and patients in a dialysis center within a time interval of 4 weeks. The test-retest correlations were as follows respectively in the student and the dialysis group: (r=.90 and .65 , p
