Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effects of defoliant used at different times such as at first applying time (first boll cracking on the 10 node from terminal), second applying time (first boll cracking on the 8 node from terminal), third applying time (first boll cracking on the 6 node from terminal), fourth applying time (first boll cracking on the 4 node from terminal) on some quality properties of two cotton {Gossypium hirsutum L.) cultivars (lachata ve SG-501) in mechanical harvesting under Harran region conditions. The differences among defoliants application times were significant for yellowness, thrash area and thrash count but non -significant for fiber lenght, micronaire, fiber strenght, elongation, uniformity index, short fibre index and reflectance.

Özet

1998-2000 yıllarında Harran ovası koşullarında, iki pamuk (Gossypium hirsutum L.) çeşidinde (Sure Grow-501 ve Lachata) uçtan itibaren aşağıya doğru 10., 8., 6., 4., boğumundaki meyve dallarının birinci konumundaki koza açtığı zaman yapılan yaprak döktürücü uygulamalarının bazı lif kalite özelliklerine etkileri araştırılmıştır. Sarılık, cepel sayısı, cepelin kapladığı alan yüzdesi yönünden yaprak döktürücü uygulamaları arasında önemli; lif inceliği, lif uzunluğu, lif kopma dayanıklılığı, lif kopma uzaması, lif uzunluk uyum indeksi, parlaklık,kısa lif oranı, yabancı madde miktarı yönünden önemli olmayan farklar saptanmıştır.
