Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the macula and optic disc by optical coherence tomography angiography in amblyopia patients. Material and Method: In our study, 30 patients diagnosed with anisometropic amblyopia were included in the study. Superficial and deep capillary plexus vascular densities, foveal avascular zone width, and optic disc parameters were measured with optical coherence tomography angiography. Results: In our study, we found a statistically significant difference between the two eyes of amblyopic patients in the superficial capillary plexus, all macula (p=0.017), fovea (p=0.021), and parafovea (p=0.020). In addition, there was no statistically significant difference in the comparison of deep capillary plexus vascular densities, foveal avascular zone width and peripapillary vessel density. Conclusion: In the optical coherence tomography angiography examination performed in amblyopic eyes, it was found that the macula was affected due to the decrease in vascular density in the superficial capillary plexus. It was determined that there was no effect on the optic disc.
