Abstract

This research study aimed to analyze and compare similarities and differences of Turkish and American preschool mathematics program for 60-72 months in terms of main principles and mathematics content coverage. In the current study, document analysis which is one of the qualitative research methodology was applied. In the first step of the two-step study, both programs were compared based on their main principles. In the second step, mathematics contents were categorized according to the mathematics sub-domains defined in the New York State Learning Standards for Mathematics and compared based on behaviors stated in each country's program. The results of the study has shown the differences in two countries' mathematics program for 60-72 months related main principles and behaviors for the subdomains of numbers and countabilitiy, operations and algebraic thinking and geometry

İkinci aşamada ise matematik konuları, New York State Matematik Öğrenme Standartları'nda belirtilen matematik öğrenme alanlarını temel alarak sınıflandırılmış ve kazanımlar karşılaştırılmıştır.
