Abstract

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) represents the highest level of internationalization. In this context social, institutional and economic factors, which are excepted as perhaps most important, and the investment purposes we considered when the FDI decide is taken. This paper combines strategic asset seeking FDI with its economic determinants and the high value-added manufacturing industry. In this regard, economic causality analysis is done by conducting a Granger Causality Test between TUBITAK R&D expenditures and FDI in the high value-added manufacturing industry, which is regarded as FDI seeking strategic assets in this paper. As a result of the causality test it is found out that the Granger Causality Test is unidirectional runnigs from R&D expenditures to FDI seeking strategic assets.
