It is very important to update curricula in order to teach our upcoming generations as responsible and aware of the contemporary issues around the world. Our geographic education curricula gained a new vision with the new geography course program-2005. It is expected that with this program, the importance of geography courses in high school would be better. However, when the program was examined, it is seen that there are some areas need to be criticize. This study, examine the whole program and put on the table some controversial issue in the text, finally, it gives some suggestion on them. Özet
Hızla gelişen dünyamızda eğitim programlarının sürekli geliştirilmesi, gelecek nesillere daha çağdaş olanaklar sunmak ve bilinçli vatandaşlar yetiştirmek aç›s›ndan son derece önemlidir. Yeni müfredat ile güncellenmesi sürekli ertelenen coğrafya öğretim programına yeni bir vizyon kazandırılmıştır. 2005–2006 eğitimöğretim yılında ilk kez 9.sınıflarda uygulanacak olan yeni coğrafya müfredatı ile liselerde coğrafya dersinin itibarının artacağı sanılmaktadır. Ancak söz konusu program tetkik edildiğinde doğal olarak tenkit edilecek bazı hususlar tespit edilmiştir. Bu makalede coğrafya öğretim programının açıklamalarına, amaçlarına, öğrenme alanlarına, ölçme-değerlendirme ve tablolarına ilişkin eleştiriler ve öneriler sunulmuştur. Yer yer de eski ve yeni müfredat kıyaslanarak, yeni müfredatımız sahip olduğu ayrıntıda göz önüne alınarak pek çok açıdan övülmüştür.
