Abstract

Background: Renal cell cancers (RCC) constitute about 3% of adult solid tumors and 85% of all parenchymal renal tumors. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the clinical and histopatho - logic properties of patients treated with a diagnosis of renal cell cancer. Methods: The clinical and pathological records of 230 patients that were surgically treated with a diagnosis of renal tumors in our clinic in between 2005-2010 were analyzed retrospectively. Results: The mean age of patients was 57.5 (32-84) years. Six - ty-nine (30%) of the patients were female and 161 (70%) were male. Nephron-sparing surgery was performed on 27 patients (12%) and radical surgery to 203 patients (88%). The mean tu - mor size was 6.9 cm (2-18). Thirty-four (15%) patients had me - tastases during treatment. The chromophobe cell RCC did not metastasize, but the sarkomatid variant RCC had the highest metastasis rates. Conclusion: In our study, the tumor stage and histological subtype were found to be more important in determining the clinical behavior of the tumor. More studies are needed with respect to tumor grade

Has taların 69’u kadın (%30), 161’i erkek (%70) idi. Yirmi yedi has taya (%12) nefron koruyucu cerrahi, 203 hastaya (%88) ise radikal cerrahi uygulandı.
