Abstract

Detection of changes in enzyme activities has been used as a method to determine the toxic ef-fects of pesticides or other toxic chemical. In this study, chronic effects of pesticide carbosul-fan (250 g/L, EC) used commonly in the Eastern Black Sea Region on enzyme activity of rain-bow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were determined. For this purpose, rainbow trout (116.88 ±21.69 g and 22.39 ±1.40 cm) were acclimated to the laboratory conditions and exposed to carbosulfan for 60 days in flow-throuhgt system (6 L/h). According to data of preliminary tests, carbosulfan concentration of test water was designed as 35 μg/L. During the chronic tests, erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity of rainbow trout was measured and inhibition rate of enzyme activity was determined. Changes in enzyme activity of rainbow trout was sta-tistically significant (p
