Abstract

Gravity anomalies which is caused by subsurface structures can be modeled as a three-dimensional by successive approximations. For modelling of the subsurface structures caused gravity anomaly data, both the density and depth information are required in many techniques. It is important applying true values of these parameters for the confidence of modeling. A statistical analysis which gives information about the depth of the structure (reference depth) used to the 3-D gravity modeling technique was applied to gravity data of theoretical subsurface structures (prism, pyramid, and sphere) known their depths. The optimum "rms" fitness values between the theoretical and the calculated data have been obtained by modifying the reference depths which have to specified in that modelling technique. The statistical analysis of rms graphics give information about the depth of the structure (reference depth). It can be seen that the rms curve declined at the accurate value of this depth.
