Abstract

After cleft palate operations, the most important problem is hypernasality due to velopharyngeal incompetence. For these patients, a new surgical operation is needed. However there is no concencus on the operative method. In this paper, superiorly based pharyngeal flap method has been used for the patients who were operated before and had velopharyngeal incompetence. The results of these operations showed that superiorly based pharyngeal flap is an eft ective method in the treatment of velopharyngeal incompetence.
