Abstract

Ipratropium bromide is known to cause mydriasis (pupillary dilation) due to it antagonizing acetylcholine at the colinergic reseptors in the eye. Anisocoria caused by ipratropium nebulizers given via face mask were described in our case. The differantial diagnosis of a fixed dilated pupil includes third nerve palsy, tonic pupil, trauma to the eye and pharmacological mydriasis. It could be beneficial with the medication of topical pilocarpine in the different diagnosis.

Özet

İpratropium bromid'in gözdeki kolinerjik reseptörlerde asetilkolini antagonize ederek midriazis (pupillada dilatasyon) yaptığı bilinmektedir. Olgumuzda yüz maskesinden nebulize olarak verilen ipratropium'un anizokoriye neden olduğunu saptadık. Fix dilate pupil ayırıcı tanısında, 3. sinir paralizisi, tonik pupil, göz travması ve farmakolojik midriazis bulunur. Ayırıcı tanıda topikal pilokarpin uygulamasından faydalanılabilir.
