Abstract

In this study, 19 patients with-Mediterranean spotted fever followed up in Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital between 1996 and 2004 are retrospectively evaluated with their epidemiologic, clinic and laboratory findings. All the patients had high fever and maculopapuler rash, and 14 patients (73.6 %) had "tache noire". The diagnosis was confirmed with indirect immuno-fluorescent antibody assay in one case and in others with Weil-Felix agglutination test. One patient was treated with levofioxacin (500 mg/day), two patients with ciprofioxacin (1.5 g/day) and the other patients with doxycycline (200 mg/day) successfully.
