Abstract

Antihypertensive, Cardiac and Metabolic Effects of Doxazosin in Essential Hypertension In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of doxazosin theraphy (1-4 mg/day) on blood pressure, left ventricular mass, systolic and diastolic functions and metabolic profile in patients with mild or moderate essential hypertension.Thirty-four patients, who were included in the study, were serially studied during 12 weeks with 2 weekly intervals by recording of blood pressures, heart rate, metabolic profile and echo-cardiogram. After 3-month treatment systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were significantly reduced (p0.05). Doxa-zosin treatment was associated with significant improvement in HDL and apo B (p
