Abstract

While the development of the technology has decreased the number of infant deaths, it has increased the number of the infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU). For this reason, in light of the developmental implementations, the environment of the NICU is important especially for high-risk newborns. The high-risk neonates who have been exposed to noise suffer from an increase in stress behaviours, disturbance, fright, decrease in healing, changes in heart-respiration rhythm, apnea, hypoxia, bradycardia, increase in systematic blood pressure, increase in intracranial pressure, loss of hearing, and disruption of the sleep-wake cycles. Healthcare providers should prevent extra noise by turning down the volume of the devices and controlling them when they are on alarm, communicate socially away from the infants, use devices that have no noise in the unit, use such materials as rolled quilts, incubator quilts, and sound absorbing panels so as to keep the infants away from noise. Regular training of noise measurement and noise control are important for decreasing and controlling the noise.

Özet

Teknolojinin gelişmesi bebek ölümlerinin sayısını azaltırken, Yenidoğan Yoğun Bakım Ünitesi (YYBÜ)'ne yatan bebek sayısının artmasına neden olmaktadır. Bu nedenle gelişimsel bakım uygulamaları doğrultusunda YYBÜ'nün çevresi özellikle yüksek riskli yenidoğanlar için oldukça önemlidir. Gürültüye maruz kalan yüksek riskli yenidoğanlar stres davranışlarında artma, huzursuzluk, ürkme, iyileşme durumunda azalma, kalp-solunum ritminde değişmeler, apne, hipoksi, bradikardi, sistemik kan basıncında artma, intrakranial basınçta artış, işitme kaybı, uyku-uyanma periyodunda bozulma vb. gibi sorunlar yaşamaktadırlar. Gürültünün azaltılması ve kontrol altına alınmasında; ünitenin yapısının uygun olmasının yanında, çalışanların gürültü oluşumunu engellebilmesi, sessiz zamanların oluşturulabilmesi, cihazların seslerinin kısılarak alarm verdiğinde hemen müdahale edilmesi, sosyal iletişimin bebeklerden uzakta gerçekleştirilmesi, ünite içerisinde gürültü oluşturmayan cihaz ve malzemelerin kullanılması, bebekleri gürültüden korumak adına rulo hâline getirilmiş örtüler, kuvöz örtüsü, ses emici paneller gibi materyallerin kullanılması, düzenli gürültü ölçümleri ve gürültü kontrolü eğitimlerinin yapılması oldukça önemli uygulamalardandır.
