Abstract

This study discusses the phases of the process through which the phenomenon of socio-cultural interaction is transferred into possibilities of “perception” as a question of social scientific analysis. Within the scope of the study, we aim to develop typical models assumed to be potential references for social scientists and relate some of the existing models to each other. The domain of socio-cultural reality is a reality which is socially and linguistically constructed. In this framework, culture conceptualization is an objective reality (objectification) which is both an embodiment (internalization) and a product (externalization) of individuals effectively performing at the semiotic level through successful transitions from meaning to form (structural epistemology) and from form to meaning (hermeneutics). Transition processes from meaning to form (structural epistemology) and from form to meaning (structural hermeneutics) jointly constitute the reality loops of individuals, which is essential to the understanding of both horizontal and vertical inter-cultural distances and socio-cultural variation among the sub-cultures of the main culture, in the domain of objective socio-cultural reality. The domain of objective socio-cultural reality can be analyzed into two basic levels; culture as symbolic system (endo-semiotic system of cognitive knowledge) and culture as social activity system(exo-semiotic systemof practical knowledge). On the other hand, this type of socio-cultural reality model inholds a potential of reconstruction and variation consistent with “reality loops” which have acquired individual functionality.
