Abstract

In this research, some of the quality properties such as moisture, hectoliter, one thousand kernel weight, wet gluten, gluten index, Zeleny sedimentation and modified sedimentation of Gönen, Kaflifbey and Sagittario wheat varieties which are widely agricultured in three different region of Çanakkale in 2005 were investigated. Also the genetic and enviromental effects on these quality properties were examined statistically. Consequently, local enviromental conditions and genotype-by-enviromental interaction were found to have a significant effect on quality. Each of the investigated three varieties of wheat which were cultivated in Biga and Canakkale regions gave better quality results compared to the Gönen variety, which was agricultured in Gelibolu region. The Gönen variety from Gelibolu had the highest gluten index in all varieties. However, Gönen wheat had lower quality properties than the other varieties.
