Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the self-efficacy beliefs of preschool teacher candidates regarding their gender roles and professions. In this study, correlational survey model was used. The study group of this study consisted of 670 pre-service teacher candidates who are studying in the Education Faculty Pre-school Education Program at Atatürk University, Gazi University, Kafkas University and Yüzüncü Yıl University. In the study, "Gender Roles Attitude Scale" developed by Zeyneloglu and Terzioğlu (2011) to determine the gender roles of prospective teachers and “Self-efficacy beliefs scale of preschool teachers" developed by Tepe and Demir (2012) were used as data collection tools. In addition, the "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researchers was used to determine the demographic information of the teacher candidates. The analysis results showed that the equality gender role was an important factor in the selfefficacy belief towards preschool teacher, not the feminine or masculine gender roles.
