Koanal polipler inflamatuar, benign, solid yumuşak doku lezyonları olarak tanımlanırlar. Genellikle maksiller sinüsten kaynaklanmakla birlikte, daha nadir olarak sfenoid sinüs, etmoid sinus, nazal septum, yumuşak ve sert damaktan da kaynaklanabilirler.
