Abstract

This research was conducted to define the effect of excess nickel on germination and some growth parameters of early seedling period in spinach (Spinacia oleracea). For this aim, concentrations were 0 (control), 25, 50, 100, 200, 400 and 800 mg $L^ {-1}$ Ni in germination stage and 0 (control), 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 mg $L^ {-1}$ Ni in early seedling stage. Nickel was stimulator for germination stage in 25 mg $L^ {-1}$ and early seedling stage in 2.5 mg $L^ {-1}$; but it was inhibitor for germination, radicula-hypocotyll growth, growth tolerance index and water content of radicle-hypocotyll in higher concentrations. In study, nickel was toxic for germination stage than the early seedling stage in higher concentrations, because it is estimated that the barrier effects of seed coat can be reason of this event.

Özet

Bu araştırma aşırı nikelin ıspanakta (Spinacia oleracea) çimlenme ve erken fide döneminde bazı büyüme parametreleri üzerine etkilerini belirlemek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Bu amaçla nikelin çimlenme aşamasında 0 (kontrol), 25, 50, 100, 200, 400 ve 800 mg $L^ {-1}$ ve erken fide aşamasında 0 (kontrol), 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 40 ve 80 mg $L^ {-1}$ konsantrasyonları kullanılmıştır. Nikel çimlenme, radikula-hipokotil gelişimi, radikulahipokotil büyüme tolerans indeksi ve su içeriği için çimlenme aşamasında 25 mg $L^ {-1}$ ve erken fide aşamasında 2.5 mg $L^ {-1}$ dozunda uyarıcı, daha yüksek dozlarda engelleyici etkide bulunmuştur. Çalışmada nikel fide aşamasına göre çimlenme aşamasında daha yüksek dozlarda toksik etkide bulunduğu; tohum kabuğunun bariyer görev yapmasının buna neden olduğu tahmin edilmektedir.
