Objective & Hypothesis:Objective: To compare abdominal and laparoscopic techniques of hysterectomyin terms of the surgery-induced trauma with measuring serum Pentraxin-3 (PTX3) level and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR).Materials and Methods: In this study, preoperative and postoperative bloodsamples were used to compare the change at the level of PTX-3 and NLR inorder to evaluate the inflammatory response in 40 patients, of whom, 20 hadexperienced Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH) + Bilateral SalpingoOophorectomy (BSO) and 20 had experienced Total Abdominal Hysterectomy(TAH + BSO).Results: Based on our comparison, change in PTX-3 level in TLH+BSO group 4.5ng/mL (0.3-18.6) was slightly higher than that of TAH+BSO group 3.0 ng/mL (0.0-18.1), but the difference was not statistically significant (p =0.429).
📊
Key Findings & Data:Likewise, theincrease in the NLR in TLH+BSO group 3.5 (1.2-19.4) was slightly higher than thatof TAH+BSO group 2.8 (-0.3-8.8), but not to a statistically significant extent (p =0.114).Conclusion: When we use the inflammatory markers of PTX-3 and NLR, therewas no significant difference between the two surgery techniques in terms ofdegree of tissue trauma.
