Abstract

Primaıy fistulas rarely exist between aorta and gastrointestinal system. It generally exists in the 3rd or 4th segments of the duodenum, and presents with severe bleeding attacks with intervals. Any delay both for diagnosis and prompt surgical intervention increases the morbidity and the mortality of this disease. The patient was hospitalized with the diagnosis of aneurysm of the abdominal aorta. The bleeding in the gastrointestinal system which appeared during the period of hospitalization has not been verified by endoscopie, scintigraphic and radiologie methods. With the detection of intermittent severe bleeding attacks, surgical intervention was performed. An aortoduodenal fistula has been found in the 3rd segment of the duodenum and the patient by partial duodenectomy and aorta iliac by-pass.
