Abstract

This study was carried out prospective within 60 patients having type I-Il or III groin hernia in SSK Istanbul Educational Hospital between 03/1997-12/2000. The patients were divided into two groups each consisting of 30 patients. Hernias were repaired with mesh-plug technique in one group and posterior wall darn (Maloney's darn) in another. Groups were compared by the duration of the operation, complications and the recurrence rates, having investigated with controls conducted at 6th, 12th and 18th months postoperatively. Operation time in group-I (mesh-plug) was found significantly shorter than the group-II (p
