Abstract

Schwannomas are tumors of the peripheral nervesheath, usually seen in the head and neck region, andrarely in the retrorectal area. The case is herepresented of a retrorectal schwannoma, which wasdetected incidentally during examination forcholelithiasis, resected with a combination oftransabdominal and posterior sacral approaches. Theoptimal surgical treatment of masses in the presacralregion is total resection of the mass. If the distal partof the lesion can not be reached duringtransabdominal surgery, the entire mass can beremoved by adding the posterior sacral approach.

Presakral bölgedeki kitlelerin optimal cerrahi tedavisi kitlenin total rezeksiyonudur. Transabdominal yoldan yapılan cerrahi sırasında lezyonun distaldeki kısmına ulaşılamaz ise posterior yaklaşım da eklenerek kitlenin tamamı çıkarılabilir.
