Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate relationship between dental and state and/or trait anxiety, and investigate to effect of anxiety on complete denture satisfaction in two group of patients in whom living different regions. This study was included total 62 patients who applied Faculties of Dentistry of Çukurova and Atatürk University. The patient’s dates were collected by used Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS) and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI Form I-II). In Group A, all of patients who have considerable problem with their dentures have high dental anxiety level, and the results obtained from Group A were similar to Group Ç in which 54% of patients have moderate problem. Besides, it was observed that there was highest level in both state and trait anxiety in this patients who have moderate problem. The Pearson Correlation analysis showed that there was a statistically significantly correlation between dental anxiety and trait anxiety. The results showed that the item of dissatisfaction which has level of middle or severe was chewing ability with complete denture, in addition, that patients who were in this condition have highest dental and state-trait anxiety. There was a statistically significantly correlation between dental anxiety and trait anxiety.
