Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence of sella turcica bridging and sella turcica dimensions in subjects with severe skeletal anomalies, and to compare their sella turcica dimensions with a normal occlusion group. The material of this study consisted of lateral cephalometric radiographs of 60 subjects. A sella turcica bridge was identified as a continuous band of bony tissue extending from the anterior cranial fossa to the posterior cranial fossa. One–Way ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison tests were used to compare groups. In Class I and Class III subjects, incidence of sella turcica bridging were 5 %, whereas it was 10 % in the Class II subjects. There was no statistically significant difference between groups regarding the rate of bridging. Width of sella turcica, and interclinoid distance were greater in Class III subjects than other groups. These results suggest that there is no significant difference in sella turcica dimensions and bridging between groups.

Grupların değerlendirilmesinde One-Way ANOVA ve Tukey çoklu karşılaştırma testleri kullanılmıştır.
