Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study is to make a retrospective evaluation of the morbidity of the donor site after bone harvesting from the anterior iliac crest. Patients and Methods: 15 patients who were scheduled for iliac crest harvesting procedures from 2006 to 2010 were analysed retrospectively in this study. Donor sites were evaluated in terms of minor and major complications. Data on donor site morbidity were obtained from the medical records and survey results conducted on patients. Results: Post-operative chronic pain, permanent loss of sensation, difficulty in stepping, difficulty in walking and leg movements was not observed in any of the patients . 1 patient (6.5%) expressed aesthetic concerns . No postoperative hematoma or infection were observed. Conclusion: It was concluded that the donor site morbidity is low in the process of harvesting graft from an anterior iliac crest area
