Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the knowledge about dental implants of the patients who apply the department of prosthodontics and back of teeth. Material and Method: A standardized, multiple choice questionary including socio-demographic factors was held on the patients recoursed to the Department of Prosthodontics, the Faculty of Dentistry, Atatürk University, for fixed or removable denture treatment. 190 patients were included in this study. The ages of patients between 15-60 and they selected in patients with any implant treatment. Results: The responds to education level and gender were analyzed by means of chi-square test. The knowledge of implant treatment showed differences with education level whereas the gender did not cause any difference. Evaluating the awareness of implant treatment, the subjects declared; no knowledge, moderate knowledge and sufficient knowledge, 30.5%, 53.7% and 15.8% respectively. As to having an implant treatment; the subjects declared; indecision and exact refusal, 45.3% and 7.3% respectively. Conclusion: The results of this survey revealed the awareness of implant treatment of the patients in the Eastern Anatolian Region besides the need of reliable informing and accurating knowledge about this treatment method

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, protetik tedavi amacı ile fakültemiz protetik tedavisi bölümüne başvuran ve diş eksikliği mevcut hastaların implant tedavisi hakkındaki bilgi düzeyini değerlendirmektir. Materyal-metod: Atatürk Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Protetik Diş Tedavisi Ana Bilim Dalı'na protez yapımı için başvuran hastalara demografik yapıyı da içeren çoktan seçmeli standartize edilmiş anket yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmaya 190 hasta katılmıştır ve 15 yaşından küçükler, 60 yaşından büyükler ve daha önce implant yaptırmış bireyler dahil edilmemiştir. Bulgular: Ankete verilen cevaplar eğitim ve cinsiyet değişkeniyle değerlendirilmiştir ve implant tedavisi bilgi düzeyi eğitim durumuna göre değişkenlik gösterirken cinsiyette fark olmamıştır. İmplant tedavisi farkındalığı değerlendirildiğinde, toplam bireylerin %30.5'i hiçbir bilgiye sahip olmadığını söylemiştir, %53.7'si kısmen bilgiye sahip olduklarını söylemişlerdir ve geriye kalan %15.8'lik oran ise yeterli bilgiye sahip olduklarını söylemişlerdir. Kişilere implant yaptırma konusundaki fikri sorulduğunda %45.3'ü kararsızım demiştir, %7.3'lük oran ise kesinlikle implant yaptırmam demiştir. Sonuç: Bu anketin sonuçları Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi'nde hastaların implant tedavisi hakkındaki farkındalığını göstermiştir. Ayrıca hastalara bu tedavi yöntemiyle ilgili daha kesin ve doğru bilgilendirme ihtiyacının olduğunu göstermiştir
