Abstract
Aim of this study is to determine the profile of ice hockey players, their reasons to join this sport branch and their expectations of it among Turkish ice hockey players. The data was collected by a custom questionnaire. The study was carried out on 170 subjects, consisting of 85 female and 85 male ice hockey players who took part in Ice Hockey Championship in 2010 organized by Turkish University Sports Federation; 16 of those were national ice hockey players. By analyzing the data in terms of frequency and percentage the questions of the study were answered. The mean age of the players were 20,95±2,42; and their sporting age were 4,50±4,59. The players generally had not have any financial difficulties, they were doing this sport since they liked it, most important factor for them to join this sport branch was they had a friend who had been doing playing ice hockey, while the media coverage of this sport had the least effect on them for choosing ice hockey. Players expectation from the sport was to carry on a healthy life through playing ice hockey, they did not have significant expectations for becoming a coach, referee, teacher or famous within this sport.

Araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye'deki Buz Hokeyi sporcularının kişisel değişkenleri, bu spor branşına yönelmenedenleri, bu branşla uğraşma nedenleri ve beklentilerinin belirlenmesidir.Araştırmada buz hokeyi ile uğraşan sporculara anket uygulanmış ve elde edilen bulgular ile araştırmanınproblemine çözüm aranmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini 2010 yılında TÜSF tarafından düzenlenen Türkiye Üniversitelerarası Buz Hokeyi Şampiyonasına katılan ve 16'sı milli olmak üzere 85 bayan 85 erkek toplam 170 buz hokeyi sporcusuoluşturmaktadır.Verilerin analizinde, değişkenlerin yüzde ve frekans değerleri alınarak bu spor branşına yönelme nedenleri,uğraşma nedenleri ve bu spordan gelecek beklentileri belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır.Araştırmanın sonucunda, sporcuların yaş ort. 20,95i2,42; spor yaşı ort. 4,50i,4,59 olduğu, sporcuların geneldemaddi sıkıntı çekmedikleri, sporcuların bu branş ile sevdikleri için uğraştıkları, branşa yönlenmelerindeki en önemlisebebin arkadaşları olduğu, basın-yayın organlarının sporcuların yönlenmelerinde en az etkiye sahip olduğubulunmuştur. Ayrıca sporcuların Buz hokeyi sporundan en çok sağlıklı bir yaşam sürme beklentisi içinde oldukları veAntrenör, Hakem, Öğretmen veya Ünlü olma beklentilerinin de çok düşük olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
