Abstract

Introduction: Subacromial impingement with rotator cuff tendinitis is probably the most commonshoulder condition seen by the orthopedic surgeons. The impingement process can be caused by several mechanisms. In Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatalogy Department of Ankara Numune Education and Research Hospital, 27 patients were operated because of shoulder impingement syndrome, between the years of 1995-2000. Twenty seven of patients, aged between 30 and 66, were followed, 9-60 months. Patients and Metods: This operation was performed on 27 patients, between January 1995 and March 2000. In all cases anterior acromioplasty was done. Results were considered according to Constant score. Results: Of 27 cases, 10 were Neer Stage II and, 17 were Neer Stage III. The average of exellent and good results was %95.5, and the average of poor results was %7.5. Conclusion: Succesfull clinical outcome can be achieved with anterior acromioplasty in impingement syndrome.
