Determining the levels of insulin-like growth factor-I and insulin like growth factor binding protein-3 in children and adolescents with insulin dependent diabetes mellitus
Results: The mean serum insulin like growth factor-I (IGF-I) level in children and adolescents with IDDM (207.65 ± 150.38 ng/ml) was significantly lower than controls (437.80 ± 248 ng/ml) (P
📌 3 Key Takeaways
🎯
Objective & Hypothesis:Purpose: The aims of this study were to measure and compare the serum levels of IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in children and adolescents with insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM ) and control subjects and to determine the relationship of these parameters to puberty and metabolic control degree.
📊
Key Findings & Data:Methods: This study was performed in 35 children and adolescents with IDDM (20 female,15 male subjects) ranging in age from 5 to 16 years (means: 11.94 ± 2.77 year).
💡
Conclusion & Impact:Results: The mean serum insulin like growth factor-I (IGF-I) level in children and adolescents with IDDM (207.65 ± 150.38 ng/ml) was significantly lower than controls (437.80 ± 248 ng/ml) (P

Abstract
Purpose: The aims of this study were to measure and compare the serum levels of IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in children and adolescents with insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM ) and control subjects and to determine the relationship of these parameters to puberty and metabolic control degree. Methods: This study was performed in 35 children and adolescents with IDDM (20 female,15 male subjects) ranging in age from 5 to 16 years (means: 11.94 ± 2.77 year). They had been diagnosed as having IDDM for 41.5± 33 months. Thirtyfive healthy subjects (18 female, 17 male) of corresponding age were included as a control group. IGF-1 aand IGFBP-3 were measured by using immunoradiometric method( DSL-5200 IRMA kit, DSL-5600 IRMA kit). Results: The mean serum insulin like growth factor-I (IGF-I) level in children and adolescents with IDDM (207.65 ± 150.38 ng/ml) was significantly lower than controls (437.80 ± 248 ng/ml) (P
