Abstract

The effect of treatment with synthetic saliva and sodium fluoride on developing caries-like lesions of enamel using a polarised light microscopy was studied. 30 extracted caries free maxillary incisors were used. The teeth were divided into 3 groups, (control, synthetic saliva and synthetic saliva+NaF groups) according to treatment solutions. After treatment the teeth were immersed into 0.1 M lactate buffer solution having a 4,5 pH value for 10 days. After the formation of artificial caries lesions the teeth were sectioned for microscopy. The microscopic evaluation showed that treatment with synthetic saliva and sodium fluoride rinses decreased the mean depth of the bodies of the lesion to a significant extent and reduced lesion formation rates. Fluoride pre-treatment reduced the depth of lesion formation when compared with synthetic saliva rinsing alone .

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı polarize ışık mikroskobu yardımıyla yapay tükürük ve NaF uygulamasının yapay çürük oluşumu üzerine etkisini incelemektir. Bu amaçla deney grubunu oluşturan 30 çürüksüz üst keser diş kullanılmıştır. Dişler asit ortama bırakılmadan önce uygulanan işlemlere göre toplam 3 gruba ayrılarak (kontrol, yapay tükürük, ve yapay tükürük+NaF uygulaması) 4.5 pH da ki 0.1 M laktatlı laktik asit tampon çözeltisine 10 gün süreyle bırakılmıştır. Mikroskobik inceleme sonucu yapay tükürük ve NaF uygulamasına maruz bırakılan grupta çürük oluşum hızında ve lezyonların ortalama derinliklerinde azalma görülmüştür. NaF uygulamasını takiben yapay tükürüğe bırakılan örneklerde sadece yapay tükürük içine bırakılan örneklere göre lezyon derinliğinde daha belirgin azalma görülmüştür.
