Abstract

Vitamin D is effective in calcium absorption and bone metabolism. Also, decreased vitamin D levels are associated with most of the chronic diseases such as DM, HT, cancer and autoimmune diseases. In this study, we aimed to investigate vitamin D levels that are carried out in our laboratory between January and December in 2012. Material and Method: A total of 4168 patients between January and December in 2012 were evaluated and age, sex and vitamin D levels classified by month. Results: In our study, 3242 (77,8 %) female and 926 (22,2 %) male were included. Mean vitamin D levels were 22,80±13,27 ng/mL, 22,49±13,88 ng/mL in female patients, 23,75±10,57 ng/mL in male patients. 47 % of patients (50 % in female 38 % in male) have vitamin D levels under < 20 ng/mL (cut-off for vitamin D deficiency). Conclusion: Our results showed that there was an important difference between vitamin D levels when patients compared according to sex, age and months. These variations may be important in clinical decisions because vitamin D levels were evaluated according to deficiency cut-off and this cut-off is not different for sex and seasons

Hastaların % 47'inde (kadınlarda % 50, erkeklerde %38) < 20 ng/mL D vitamini seviyeleri vardı (D vitamin yetersizliği için cut-off). D vitamini yetersizliğinde mevsimsel değişiklikleri incelemek için ortalama D vitamini düzeyleri karşılaştırıldığında tüm gruplar arasında istatiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulundu (p
