Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between nicotine addiction levels and some variables like; exhaled carbon monoxide level, the number of cigarettes smoked daily, the age to start smoking, years of smoking and some demographic characteristics in patients applied to our smoking cessation unit. Materials and Methods: The study included 415 cases admitted between January and April 2015. SPSS software version 15.0 was used for statistical analysis. Descriptive analyses and Chi‐square test were performed. Pearson correlation analysis and Spearman correlation analysis were performed in parametric and non‐parametric data, respectively. Results: Of the 243 male and 172 female cases, 214 were living in the same house with smokers. The mean ages of beginning to smoke were; 18.56±5.4 in female, 16±5.08 in male the difference being significant (p
